Q: What does QIgong mean?

A: The Chinese word "Qi" means Energy. The ancient Greeks called it "Aenema" (that which animates), the Hindus called it "Prana," the Israelites called it "Ruach", and Star Wars fans know it as "The Force". The word "Gong" can be translated to mean work or practice. Quite literally, "Qigong" means to work with or practice moving your energy.

Q: What is Qigong?

A: Qigong is a Chinese form of movement that combines stationary postures, fluid motions, stretching, meditation and breath work. All of this is meant to regulate the mind and deepen the respiration.

Q: For what is Qigong used?

A: Based on ancient Taoist principles and meditations, Qigong has been used for centuries to boost health, increase longevity and reduce stress. By aligning rhythmic breathing with slow, repetitive movement and focused intention, this traditional Chinese practice balances and cultivates your energy. Come experience a deeper connection to the seasons as well as your body and connect with your innate potential.

Q: What are the essential points of Qigong?

A: Relaxation, quietness, unity of Breath and mind, through awareness

Q: What should I wear for Qigong?

A: Unrestrictive, Lose-fitting, comfortable clothes. Bring an extra layer so that you may remove or put on if your temperature requires it.

Q: What benefits can I expect by doing Qigong?

A: Qigong is a subtle, yet powerful exercise. Most report a sense of calm and relaxation. Some report a deeper sense of presence. And even more report a feeling of more energy and vitality.

Q: Is Qigong a religion?

A: Qigong is a tool. That is all. Just as meditations have been used by religions to reach a different state of awareness, Qigong is used to reach different states of potential. It is accurate to say that Qigong uses the ideas of "oneness" much like other spiritualities, but Qigong is not concerned with your faith or your personal spiritual practices.
